MEDIUM: Original Story Sketch, Graphite
IMAGE SIZE: 5" x 4"
PRODUCTION: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, 1937
SKU: CCV3335
ABOUT THE IMAGE: This story sketch from Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs provides a rare glimpse into the unseen elements of the Evil Queen's throne room. Rendered in graphite on trimmed animation paper, the image captures the grandeur and ominous atmosphere of the throne room that, while not always directly visible to the audience, significantly enhances the narrative's mood and tension. It depicts intricate details such as the ornate architecture, shadows cast by flickering torchlight, and elements like the Queen's menacing, looming presence, which might be hinted at by a shadow or a voice echoing through the halls. Although not fully displayed on screen, this piece of art contributes deeply to the storytelling, providing context and depth that permeate the visible scenes.
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: In the development of an animated picture, story sketches represent the translation of initial creative ideas into graphic form. This step is followed by animation drawings which give life and movement to the characters.

ABOUT:
Tom Everhart is a celebrated American painter whose work uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art and popular culture through his exclusive use of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters. Initially trained at Yale School of Art and later mentored by Schulz himself, Everhart transitioned from traditional illustration and architectural rendering to a bold, expressive painting style after a life-altering battle with cancer in the late 1980s.
"The "Posing" series did grow out of the previous "Hide and Seek" series that focused on the questions of one's attempt to hide their intellectual honesty in order to seek out a newly designed image... a "Poser" tsunami of posturing between who was being real, and who was obviously pretending to be real, often with the intent to deceive, could no longer be ignored." - Tom Everhart
