ABOUT THE IMAGE: Musical professor Fritz Owl (whose advertising sign reads: Teacher of Voice, Piano & Violin, but - NO JAZZ) and his wife have a new nest full of little owls, each of whom show to be amazing classical musicians upon exiting their eggs. Except for the youngest that is, who springs forth as (horror of horrors!) a Jazz Singer! Well in no time at all, Papa says “enough it’s too much!” and summarily tosses the poor youngster out of the house. Undaunted by the expulsion, the littlest owl happily strolls through the forest a-crooning, coming upon a radio station holding an amateur contest. This hand-painted limited edition captures the key moment of little Owl Jolson’s performance for emcee Jack Bunny, as the entire Owl clan looks on through the window just prior to joining in as a chorus line!)
This Limited Edition Cel began with a Vince Musacchia drawing based on a scene from the Merrie Melodies cartoon "I Love To Singa!" From this drawing Helene Hartman created the master inking which was then silk-screened with the Warner Bros. Seal onto an acetate sheet (or “cel”). These lines were augmented with “self color” lines, which were hand-inked on the front of the cel to help create the look of the original animation. Each cel was then hand-painted on the reverse side in the style of classic cel animation. The background by Hector Martinez was reproduced on acid-free paper using the digital Giclée process.

ABOUT:
Tom Everhart is a celebrated American painter whose work uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art and popular culture through his exclusive use of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters. Initially trained at Yale School of Art and later mentored by Schulz himself, Everhart transitioned from traditional illustration and architectural rendering to a bold, expressive painting style after a life-altering battle with cancer in the late 1980s.
"The "Posing" series did grow out of the previous "Hide and Seek" series that focused on the questions of one's attempt to hide their intellectual honesty in order to seek out a newly designed image... a "Poser" tsunami of posturing between who was being real, and who was obviously pretending to be real, often with the intent to deceive, could no longer be ignored." - Tom Everhart
